As many of you know, especially if you follow my Twitter feed, I am a HUGE fan of Con*Tact Caffeine’s products. I’ve been using them for about a year now and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the company or their products. Being someone with sensitive skin, I’m a little wary at times with using certain products in the shower and as cosmetics but Con*Tact lists their ingredients on each bar of soap, as well as on their website, so I know exactly what I’m putting on my body.
It's a good feeling.
For those who don’t know about the company, Con*Tact Caffeine is a business based in Seattle, Washington that specializes in home and body products. While they are most known for their caffeinated soaps (also available in decaf), Con*Tact has recently released “Scent Markings”, which are solid perfumes and Den Warmers, which are soy wax tarts that can be used in wax warmers, including the new and growing popular “Scentsy” wax warmers which utilize electricity instead of candles (perfect for dorm rooms).
The first question that I’m asked when I introduce others to Con*Tact is 'What scent should I get?” The awesome thing about Con*Tact they try to appeal to everyone. It's not a “female-scents” dominated company, unlike other product lines out there. There are fruity scents, floral scents, musky scents, light scents, spicy scents; basically any group of scent category that you can think of. The variety is amazing and new scents are added often.
What are their soaps like in general? The base of their soaps are “a very mild vegetable glycerin combined with shea for moisturizing”. These two ingredients alone are great for soaps on their own. Mix them together and you have a promise for an extremely moisturizing soap. That's exactly what you have. The lather that comes with Con*Tact's soaps is thick and rich, whether you use a scrubbie, a washcloth, or just your hands. After use, I've always noticed my skin to be super soft. This soap, unlike many of those out on the market right now, just doesn't dry your skin out. It's gentle, moisturizing, and smells great! What more could you ask for?
Oh. Caffeine.
There's a debate out there whether or not caffeinated soaps actually work, if they don't, or if it's just a placebo affect. The affect of caffeinated soap depends on so many different variables, such as each individual's body chemistry, how long the lather stays on your skin, etc. As for myself, I notice a difference after I've used caffeinated soap and feel a lot more energized. What I like about it is that you don't get that 'jolt' that you get with energy drinks. For myself, it's more of a gradual increase of energy. I can't stress enough that everyone is different.
Each review will follow the following format. Along with a link to each product, and the scent taken from the website itself, I’ll be breaking down each scent described on the website (for those who don’t know what things such as verbena and ylang ylang are). I will then describe the scent in my own opinion, giving the reader a well-rounded description, and provide my own review of the product.
I'm not a soap expert. I don't work for Con*Tact Caffeine. I'm just a college student that wants to review soaps. These are pretty high quality (and fun) products that I love a lot. Con*Tact made showers fun again and I want to be able to share such experiences with others.
Thanks for reading!
